Our mission is to help Speakers get educated on what the industry is like today, not twenty years ago. This industry changes yearly, what Meeting Planners look for, changes - as do their events. We stay plugged in to find out what is needed to succeed in this industry, we update our current clients and educate new clients during Orientation. We work closely with Meeting Planners to ensure success for the Speaker and for the Event.
WHY I STARTED THIS SERVICE.
When I first started my business in 2005, I spoke frequently at events, colleges and even taught classes at a local learning annex. As time moved on I eventually phased out of the speaking side and moved into event planning. My company hosted many small business trade shows and networking events. I found myself on the meeting planning side, scouting venues, hiring Speakers, selling Exhibitor space and filling seats with Attendees. After a few years and some transitions in my business, I phased out out events and moved on to marketing for B2B.
Being an Entrepreneur is NEVER a straight line, its like climbing a mountain, enjoying the view as you go along.
After a life changing experience, I decided to follow one of my passions and get back into Speaking to teach workshops and breakout sessions. I learned very quickly how much the industry changed in just ten years! It took me six months to learn the "new" process of finding events, how to apply, how to approach meeting planners now and how to create a follow-up system. It took some time but I created a system that could be done in as little as 5 hours a week. Which left time to run my business and continue to fill my calendar with paid events.
After hearing from so many other Speakers expressing their dismay with their Speaking Bureau and not having the time or knowledge to find engagements, I decided to start Book.Speak.Repeat. You see, as a Speaker I understand what the process is like and it can be frustrating, especially for those starting out or like myself used to speak years ago and now finding the industry has changed SO much. My mission with this division of my company is simple, to educate new and emerging Speakers on how to create a successful process and make the process of finding engagements easier. No one wants to admit it, but getting booked on paid engagement is a numbers game, the more you submit your information the more you increase your chances of a conversation with a meeting planner, which is your opportunity to close the deal. These are things we teach. Once you learn how to set up your own process, we can talk about helping you with our submission services to help in addition to the process we help you create during one of our events.
The flip side of this, I used to be a Meeting Planner. I hosted an annual Expo many years ago called "Starting Your Business", in addition to smaller events. I know what its like to have to get seats filled, sell the Exhibitor space and book Speakers, not to mention the logistics of the event. So I have experience on both sides, education is the #1 item attendees look at when deciding to register for an event. However, picking a Speaker accounts for less than 5% of what is on the meeting planners plate. They may be looking for a someone to teach a Sales Management workshop on their Sales Track, but they have their pick of high quality Speakers who CAN deliver great content.
You may be asking yourself, who is this person??? I will be the first to tell you, I am no one special, but I get booked. Rilee Vo, Executive Assistant. Rilee handles all of our booking, calendar items and everything we need for our events and training's. Rilee has a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and her skill set is what makes things run smoothly behind the scenes. Rilee started with us as an Intern in 2015 and returned to work with us in 2018 on a variety of tasks.
